Castle Creations is Open

One would think writing books would be enough creative expression... right?

Well, yes. And no.
After a day of writing, I'll admit, I'm pretty brain dead. Just ask anyone who tries to get a cohesive conversation out of me. =)
Okay, it's not that bad. But my friends do say I have a limited amount of verbal words to spend on a given day and they can tell when I've run out of them. 
Stories churn in my head like clothes in a dryer. Constantly. Not matter what's going on, it seems my characters are in the background working out plot problems, acting out scenes, or some even showing up with new story ideas. It's like girl scouts pounding on your door when you're trying to diet. 

Basically, my mind is never a dull place. The perks are I'm never, ever bored. Ever. When I'm somewhere I don't want to be, I can check out but still seem engaged. (ha!) And when I'm in a lecture and taking notes, they might be about what's being said, or my next story idea. Depends on which one is more interesting. 

Still, at the end of the day, I need something that will help me wind down. Even with all that going on, there's a different kind of creative expression I enjoy doing. 

Before I got turned on to Gimp and Paint.net, I used to haul out my acrylic paints, ink pens, watercolors, or other assorted drawing materials. I still love to paint, but I don't have the time or room to get out an easel and paint materials. 

Then I found Photoshop. And Deviant Art. Oh, and You Tube tutorials. 

Heaven!

You know the covers of my first two White Road Chronicles? I fell in love with that form of digital art and sought to learn how to do it myself. I'm still learning, but man, it's been a blast.

Once I started to learn how to manipulate pictures, I started playing around with making my own covers. The artist who've done my past covers are very talented and I love the work they've done. But it's hard to get an idea out of my head and explain what I want to someone else. So, I just started doing it myself.

I have to say, it was cool to get a print book and realize I did every part of it. The outside and inside. 

Truth be known, I was happy to just do my own covers and leave it at that. But then others started asking for me to do one for them. Since it was fun, I said yes. The more covers I did, the more request I got. 

So, I finally decided it was time to set up shop. And that's what I've done.
