When I wrote Illuminated, I had been on a long hiatus from writing. I had kids to raise, and a home to run. My son was a preschooler. My daughter was in school. I was going to college for a degree in rehabilitation counseling. And then… A story presented itself to me.
Alyra’s story.

The Holidays are here!
Despite how much fun this season can be, it can also get tiring and hectic. For those who might need a break, or even an escape from the crazy, I wanted to share some of my discounted books. Some have a holiday theme. Some are adventures waiting to happen. Below I've listed each book, what it's about, and a link to find out more. Enjoy and Merry Christmas! Well, I didn't win. But I did win.
Ha! Read on to find out what craziness I'm talking about now.
This past month, I've been gearing up to start writing Reborn of Ashes Book 3 of the Phoenix Province Trilogy. I've been trying to write this story, but life and other circumstances have kept me from getting started.
And then, here comes my favorite writerly event of the year... TheNaNoWriMo challenge. Yes, 50,000 words in one month. Not just any month, either. It's Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday season month! NaNoWriMo, an acronym short for “National Novel Writing Month,” is an online platform, as well as a challenge taking place in November, for aspiring writers to take on and belt out a 50,000-word novel within a whole month! According to its site, NaNoWriMo is “a website, a community, a wildly ambitious writing event – and so much more!” In the White Road Chronicles, one of the first human characters Alyra comes upon is a farm boy name Jerin who lives in the town of Yarholm. Jerin has a big problem. Or rather, his problems are small little things, but there are a lot of them and they can be quite vicious when angered. Yes, I'm talking about the invasion of okbolds that have overrun his town and nearly taken it over.
With the release of the Phoenix Province Series, Book 2- Blade of Embers, I thought a reintroduction of the heroes in this series was in order.
The Phoenix Province is a fairytale retelling loosely based on Cinderella. Rillion, or Cinderillion of the Phoenix House feels that she is destined to become a great warrior. However, her father, Regent Kenrich of the Karm Province wants her to learn how to become a proper lady. Her lofty ideas of leaving their struggling province to travel to the elusive White City are out of the question. He has other plans for his only child. Sterlyn, from the Raven House of Kaim Province, is the second born forgotten son. His older brother, Bartram is destined to become the next Regent in line, whether he wants to or not. This is his legacy. This is what is expected of Bartram. What is expected of Sterlyn is something he wants no part of...or so he believes. UPDATED: BLADE OF EMBERS IS NOW LIVE. Check out the Phoenix Province Series Wings of Fire began our new adventure with Sterlyn and Rillion, Blades of Ember continues this Cinderella retelling set in the world of Alburnium where readers have enjoyed visiting in the White Road Chronicles, The White Road Tales, and The Lionheart Province. Keep reading to see what our heroes Sterlyn and Rillion, along with Juniper the Okbold, will be up to next.
The two provinces have been as close as Rillion and Sterlyn’s life-long friendship. However, loyalties grow cold when evil knocks at the gates, threatening to destroy everything the Kaim Regent has worked so hard to build.
Some sacrifices must be made. A plan is hatched that might satisfy the emerging ruler who hungers for control and power in his desire to overthrow both provinces. During a brief visit to beautiful Kaim, Rillion’s father is introduced to a widow, with twin daughters, who manages to steal his heart. When Father surprises Rillion with a new step-mother and two mean-spirited sisters, her world spirals into a pit of despair and loss that she may never rise out of.
