I did this thing... And I plan to do it again.
Incase you weren't aware, I published a children's picture book! I wrote this little story years ago. It came to me in the middle of the night, as stories sometimes do. I saw this rambunctious little sheep (at the time he wore striped shorts and sunglasses-picture below) That original story is a little different, and a little longer than what I've ended up with in The Shepherd Leads Me. Which as left me with two more Sheep story ideas to tackle at a later date. For now, let's meet Sheep, Dog and the Shepherd.

For some time now, I've wanted to do a companion devotional book for the Chronicle books.
I had started it some time back, a collection of thoughts and scriptures for the journey. It sat on my computer for some time until this year when I decided it was time for me to finish the half-done projects I started and abandoned. I believe that the Lord inspires the ideas that come my way. I want to honor those inspirations and not brush them aside for whatever reason I have at the moment such as, I'm too busy, I write fiction, not devotionals, blah, blah, blah. Creativity is a gift. One that needs to be appreciated and not taken in stride. So, today, I present you with the first of what I hope will be many more devotional for your spiritual walk. With the release of the Phoenix Province Series, Book 2- Blade of Embers, I thought a reintroduction of the heroes in this series was in order.
The Phoenix Province is a fairytale retelling loosely based on Cinderella. Rillion, or Cinderillion of the Phoenix House feels that she is destined to become a great warrior. However, her father, Regent Kenrich of the Karm Province wants her to learn how to become a proper lady. Her lofty ideas of leaving their struggling province to travel to the elusive White City are out of the question. He has other plans for his only child. Sterlyn, from the Raven House of Kaim Province, is the second born forgotten son. His older brother, Bartram is destined to become the next Regent in line, whether he wants to or not. This is his legacy. This is what is expected of Bartram. What is expected of Sterlyn is something he wants no part of...or so he believes. So I did a fun little thing. I created a coloring book.
This first coloring book is actually a journaling coloring book. There are pages full of inspirational sayings and scriptures, alongside pages where you can journal your thoughts and dreams. In a world full of confusion and discord, I wanted to create something that would encourage people to smile and think about uplifting and good things. Though I love writing full-fledged inspirational fantasy novels, I have these little stories that I've been hanging on to for years now.
I've always thought it would be fun to write and illustrate picture books. Did you know that I was not only a teacher's aid in an elementary school, but I used to run the children's ministry at my church back in it's early years.? I'm amazed over this, too. Ha! During that time, when I was first called back to write stories, I'd get these silly little stories that would sometimes hit me at the oddest times. (Usually in the middle of the night, as usual) So, I'd get up in the morning and write them down. When our church was just a small gathering, the pastor would let me read these stories to everyone. The kids enjoyed them. So did some of the adults. That was quite nerve-wracking, let me tell you. But I learned something at that time. I learned that I could say things in stories that touched people's hearts. Even helped them at times. I learned the effectiveness of telling a parable. Sheep's Tale, was the first one to come to me. After a very long year, I've finally finished the first mini-series from The Chronicles of Alburnium. Perhaps you've read the White Road Chronicles series. This newest series of fairy-tale retellings all take place during an earlier time in the world of Alburnium. You'll meet Tarek's early family, along with a few other favorite Houses...and Beings.
You'll also learn how Lord Darnel rises to power over the course of the extended series. The Lionheart Province is Leon and Kardia's story, Coming next will be the Phoenix Province which will be Rillion and Sterlyn's tale. (Don't worry, you'll meet them in Gold & Fire, so be looking out for them) For now, let's talk about the conclusion of the Lionheart Province - Gold and Fire. I'll also share a sneak peek of my favorite scene. Oh, and in case you didn't notice, the first two covers have been given an overhaul. What do you think of them? An impossible demand. A woman who hates him. He needs a miracle. Can he get it in time? Expert animal trainer, Seth McGuire, has put everything into his animal rescue charity. With less than six months until his 35th birthday, his father completely blindsided him with an impossible demand. He must be married by his birthday, or lose the trust fund that finances his charities. Yeah, right—he will not lose his charity! Online dating sites, here he comes! Noelle Combs is offered an opportunity to take her relationship coaching blog and turn it into a regular television show. And she has a decent chance, too—if she can figure out a way to take the stars of her blog—two, rowdy, uncontrollable Great Danes—and tame them enough to be manageable on the show. Good thing her agent finds her the perfect animal trainer. Bad thing –it’s the man who broke her heart several years ago. When Noelle agrees to be Seth’s relationship coach, he can’t believe that he ever let this woman go. Sparks fly as they try to help each other attain their goals.
