Help Me Name The Baby...

I feel like running a contest. The prizes will be ebook copies of Blood & Water and Silver & Light.
How many depends on the response I get.

A Word of Caution...
If you've not read Blood & Water and Silver & Light then you are about to venture into SPOILER ALERT territory.

It's no secret...

That the Lionheart Province trilogy is a retelling of The Handless Maiden, a Grimm's fairy tale.  If you've made the time to read the original story, you know the maiden has a baby.

So, yes, Kardia and Leon will also have a baby.  (But that's all I'm going to tell you) -- Ha!

If you do read the original fairy tale, I want it to be known that I do follow some of the story...but not all of it. And certainly, not the ending. So there.

Moving on.

I'm about halfway through Gold & Fire and we have a baby. But no name. We need a name. However, there's a few things to keep in mind.

What Do Names Mean???

When I pick a main character's name, I look for ones that have a certain meaning. 
For example:
Kardia (Car-dee-ah) is Greek for heart. Which fits her because kindness is one of her main character traits, as the Maiden in the Grimm's story.

Leonard (Leon) is a German form of lion. Which is his House and the banner for the Province of Rodonal. His growth process is going from a young cup to a ruling lion. 

Bonus question--who else comes from the House of Lion?  ​Answer in the comments. 

Darnel is a weed, I got it from the parables of the tares. It fits him because darnel is a weed that looks like wheat, but it isn't. 

So, this baby will be part of the House of Lion and will possibly become a Regent someday. Maybe. If you're thinking of a cub or baby lion DO NOT suggest SIMBA. Haha.. really, just don't. 😋

I love picking names and can spend hours digging into meanings and playing with words.

I'm not quite sure what she has yet... The last chapter I stopped at, she went into labor. 😏

I think that I know...but I might change my mind. So, give me one of each. Besides, I'm always looking for interesting names for future books.

Kardia will only have the one baby, unlike someone else.... in a previous series.

I will run the contest between now and May 29th. I'll pick a winner on the 30th. Again, it will depend on how many people participate. I'm only counting those who comment here, not on facebook or those who respond to my newsletter. When Gold & Fire releases in July. You'll have to read the story and find out what happens. I know, that's kind of mean, but it's my game, my rules. 😁
