So I did a fun little thing. I created a coloring book. This first coloring book is actually a journaling coloring book. There are pages full of inspirational sayings and scriptures, alongside pages where you can journal your thoughts and dreams. In a world full of confusion and discord, I wanted to create something that would encourage people to smile and think about uplifting and good things. There's something calming about coloring... When I need to think through a problem, or work out a scene, I go for my adult coloring books. Perhaps because the soothing motion of coloring engages my creative brain, it opens my mind to work out things while my hands and eyes are busy on something else. I don't know. Honestly. What I do know, is that when I work on a coloring page, my stress levels go down, my thoughts begin to line up, and I feel a sense of peace as I work on something pretty. I'm going to share a couple of pages from the Coloring Journal that I've done. When I get up in the morning, the first thing I do is make my cup of coffee. Then I usually go to my craft room, or maybe outside on the patio if the weather is nice. What I do is get quiet and spend time the the Lord. I try not to get bogged down with doing the same thing every morning during my quiet time. So some mornings I might read a couple of quick devotionals from my Bible app. Other times, if I have questions or concerns, I journal them out. Once in a while, I'll watch a YouTube video of one of my favorite inspirational speakers. So, basically, it just depends on my mood and where I feel the Lord leading me. Some mornings, when I need to calm my mind so I can listen and think more clearly, I pull out my coloring books. Here is one page from my Coloring Journal for the Inspired that I've done recently. LIVE BIG Find your passion and learn how to use it to serve others and help build the kingdom. (I had to add the last phrase.) In case you can't read my crazy handwriting, this is what I basically wrote: I believe God gives all his children talent/skills to use in this life. It's up to us to figure out what those talents are. Sometimes, it's obvious--such as if one enjoys the arts, or singing/speaking...whatever. Other times, we need to dig a little deeper to find them. Are we empathetic? Do we feel compassion towards those who are in need or struggling? Do we enjoy having friends over for a meal or dessert and making them feel special? That is a talent of hospitality. Or maybe you simply like to help get things done. Even if the skill or talent doesn't seem evident, it's there. I believe this because Gods says in His word that we all have a purpose: that he has a plan for us. (Jeremiah 29:11) We only need to ask. Then we need to prepare our hearts to listen. Most importantly...we need to not brush the answer aside, just because it seems impossible. God is a master of impossibilities. Click the button below to see more pictures included inside.
