Eeeish....
Monday, November 15th
Starting Word Count: 18,700 Today's Word Count: Zilch. Zero, Nada. Allergies have hit with full force. In order to be able to breath at night, I took sinus medicine. But then, I couldn't sleep. 11:00 pm...12:30 pm... countless showings of Friends (which I've seen so many times I can say the lines word for word). Finally, i gave up and took a couple of melatonin, knowing I'd regret it in the morning. Good news is I slept. Bad news is I really slept. Very late. And when I did finally drag myself out of bed, I was just tired. I at first thought I'd just jump into the story and hope for the best. There never was time to work on my outline over the weekend. The problem was, I was just tired and mindnumb. So, I decided to tackle the outline. That took me the better part of the day...between naps and doing other procrastinating things we writers do when we know we should write, but can't. Floors swept. Dishes done. Dusting....blah, blah blah. I finally gave up and decided to just do other things. Tomorrow is a new day, right? AT this point, I'm about 8,000 words behind. That's not so bad...right?
Tuesday, November 16th
We are now officially halfway through NanoWriMo.
Today was pretty amazing. I'm not sure how I can go from zero productivity one day to being on top of my game the next, but it happened.
This morning, I decided to work on the picture book and the tasks went smoothly. After lunch and a little break from the computer, I spent the next two hours in writing sprints and managed to get out 3600 word! Whoop!! Now I'm only 4600 words behind. That's really not bad at all. I can recoup that. I wish all my days would go like today did. I had time to go for a walk, work in my garden, and relax in the late afternoon. It was nice.
Wednesday, November 17th
Starting Word Count: 18,700 Today's Word Count: I'm just going to leave this cute cat picture here and move on.
Thursday, November 18th
Starting Word Count: 22,066 Today's Word Count: 2560 Once again, sprints saved me and I was able to get some words in. I did get a late start because I decided to work on the picture book first. So that only left me a couple of hours after lunch to write. I'm still watching my grand-dolls after school in the afternoons, and I'm usually too brain dead to write at night. Although I have joined an evening sprint and was able to get some words in. The key to success, my friends, is to not get stuck in a routine rut. Be flexible and free.
Friday, November 19th
Starting Word Count: 28,681 Today's Word Count: 2755 Okay, today I got serious again. And life settled down a bit. For those following along, my husband got into an auto accident last week and we've been holding our breath waiting to see what the insurance would do. All is well, I'm grateful to report. They've totaled out the truck and have paid off what we owed. Now, we'll have to go find a new one. Which, in the current market will require a bit more prayer, right? Stay tuned. As for the story, it's developing nicely. Sterlyn and Rillion at the the first pinch part of the story. The do or die. This is the point where the character begins to make their first attempts to fix the problems facing them. Now that I'm getting into the story, it's easy to just sit down and start typing. At this point, the characters have come alive for me (again) and that makes for a much easier story flow. Next week, being Thanksgiving week and everyone will be home. I'll have to get a little more creative about finding my times to write. I want to keep the momentum I have, plus I'm still a little behind. But not so behind that I can't possibly catch up. I can still do this. I can! On a side note, I woke up early--like 5am early, and felt like writing. So I did. And I got about 1300 extra words in. Yay me. This week's stats below. Sorry this is late again. Friday was a little off for me in the afternoon.
