For some time now, I've wanted to do a companion devotional book for the Chronicle books. I had started it some time back, a collection of thoughts and scriptures for the journey. It sat on my computer for some time until this year when I decided it was time for me to finish the half-done projects I started and abandoned. I believe that the Lord inspires the ideas that come my way. I want to honor those inspirations and not brush them aside for whatever reason I have at the moment such as, I'm too busy, I write fiction, not devotionals, blah, blah, blah. Creativity is a gift. One that needs to be appreciated and not taken in stride. So, today, I present you with the first of what I hope will be many more devotional for your spiritual walk. A thirty-one day devotional to help you along on your spiritual journey We all have a plan and purpose for our lives. Sometimes, we have to dig deep to find out what that purpose is. However, God promises answers to those who seek his ways. For the next month, see where your lift path might be taking you in this devotional journal. Each day offers a scripture to ponder and action thoughts to journal about as you seek God for your place in his kingdom. Only the print version has journaling pages included. This devotional is a companion book to the White Road Chronicles series. However, even if you have not read the books, you will surely get some insight and encouragement for whatever journey you may be on at this time. Here's a sample from the book...Day Four -- Light the WayJohn 8:12 (MSG) Jesus once again addressed them: “I am the world’s Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.” Pondering: Jesus left us two ways to find guidance as we walk our paths. One is His words. Nearly all of His teaching can be applied to our lives today. How to deal with relationships, how to handle money, how to listen to God. Which is the second thing He left us: the Holy Spirit to guide us. We are not alone. We do not have to stumble through our lives, not knowing where we are going or what we should do. Let Jesus light the way, so you can see more clearly. Application: Keeping a journal does two things. First, it frees up your thoughts and gets them out in the open. It also helps you remember the things God has done for you in the past. Find a nice book you can write your daily prayers in. If you don't like to write longhand, open a word program on your computer. Make a section for not only prayers but gratitudes and answers, as well. Take time to listen after you've written your prayers. Listen and write down what you hear in the answers section. Copy scriptures you come across that jump out at you. Sometimes, a scripture might pop into your mind that doesn’t make sense at the moment. Write it down anyway. Perhaps later it will make perfect sense. Be willing to open your heart and truly listen. Before you know it, ideas will come, understanding will come, answers to problems you’re facing will come. Do you have questions that nip at your mind? Write them down on the next page, then wait. See what happens. You might be surprised when an answer or idea falls into your heart that helps make everything more clear. The print version is prettier and has journaling pages included.
However, the ebook version also has a devotional for each day and you can follow the prompts in your own personal journal as you read through the book. Please let me know if you enjoy this new endeavor. I love to hear your feedback. Reviews are most helpful, but I also love getting emails and messages from you. Be blessed and keep checking back for more new releases coming soon! J. C.
