Not too long ago, my bookshelves were like sacred ground. Wherever we moved, my boxes (heavy) of books (which Mr. Castle often threaten to throw in the nearest dumpster) would go with us. Didn't matter if I'd read the books before. If I loved them, they stayed with me.
Some still do. Then the e-readers became popular. At the time, I was working at a bookstore and purchased my first reader, a nook, for a really great price. And I was hooked.
Now I have a kindle. (It was inevitable since most of my books are on Amazon first) My bookshelf space has diminished significantly, but I have more books than I ever had before. Including many that once took up space on my shelves.
Can you see that shelf behind that crazy lady? (Me, in case you were wondering) There are still plenty of books around, so don't worry. But now they're more purposeful, usually relating to books I'd use for research or writing tips. Okay, there's still my favorite series. Several to be honest. (That would be the second shelf where they are lined, stacked and doubled up.) Yeah, I'm hopeless.
But my book-books, they're now loaded on my kindle. Tons of them. If it's a DEAR book, (Drop Everything And Read) then I can get through it in two days. Three tops, but nobody eats or wears clean clothes. Ha. True story.
Most books take me a week to read. So I've become a real fan of my e-reader. And I don't think I'm the only one. Raise your hand if you have one of these nifty devices somewhere near by. (Or leave a comment because, come on, I can't see you!!) Now, I know what some of you are thinking... Yes, if the batteries go out, I'm in a bit of a quandary. Which is why I've loaded the kindle app on my tablet and phone. If those go out? Well, as you can see in the picture, I still have print books as a back up. (I always have a plan B) So I came across this ad on Amazon... this looks like a great deal!
It is maybe time for an upgrade?
Christmas will be here before we know it. What do you think? Are you an e-book reader fan, or are you dearly holding on to print books? I'll admit, there is nothing sweeter than the smell of a new book. Am I right? But I truly think that my kindle is the next best thing to candy corn. Can I get an AMEN? Tell me what you prefer? And do you have more books on your reader than you think you'll be able to read? I think the next thing they need to come up with are easier ways to organize our books. Like a virtual library with a romance section, and a fantasy section, and a one-click coffee delivery section... I can dream, right? Well, I'm going to have to think about this, but hey, check it out for yourself. You know what they say....
Oh, and while you're at it, don't forget to pick up your copy of my latest book, Sun Kisses. You'll not want to miss another heartwarming story from Madison Creek Bed and Breakfast and the characters you’ve grown to love.

I read everyday. Hardly ever watch tv. I love all sorts of books and I have worn out two kindles, working on my third. I have over a thousand books in my library on kindle. I have over 300 plus books at home. I had a garage sale and sold many books so others could enjoy the awesome reads for a small price. I have given many books to church libraries and the local community center library. I love books!
