Welcome to the final day of our Valentines Countdown to Great Giveaways! I hope you've come away with more than just a load of books and gifts, I hope you've found some treasures along the way to store in your heart. Today, I'd like to finish up our countdown by talking to you all about the Language of LOVE. Love Is A Special LanguageA few years ago I read a book from Gary Chapman called the The Five Love Languages and it not only changed how I viewed my husband, who I've been married to thirty years now, but also how I viewed myself. If you visit the site, you can take a 15 minute quiz that will help narrow down your specific love language, which Chapman says are many, but he's narrowed it down to five big ones in his book.
Did you give it a try? How did you do? You might be wondering how this makes any difference in a relationship, or even by understanding yourself. Well, knowing that my husband feels more appreciated when someone is bragging on him helps me to remember to curb my negative words which will only pull him down and put distance between us. Words of Affirmation is also my love language. I've always said that love is a choice. Showing love is also something we must choose to do, not only for ourselves, but for others. As I said, Words of Affirmation is one of my love languages. When I get down on myself, speaking negative words, or berating myself for a mistake will only bring me down more. Reminding myself of the good things I've done helps to life me out of the pit I might have fallen into. I was taken a little by surprise when the topic of the love languages popped up in my book My Beastly Billionaire. ![]() When Elisa Lucken's interior design company is hired to decorate the huge but neglected Grimwood Manor for an impromptu holiday gala, Elisa is put in charge of managing the indoor crew. The only catch is--do not disturb the reclusive Duncan Grimwood. Thrilled and excited about her chance to finally prove herself, Elisa is so absorbed in her work she doesn't hear the blizzard warning that sends the rest of her crew home. Jewelry Artisan Duncan Grimwood had a reputation of being a playboy until the motorcycle accident that left him damaged inside and out. After a year of recuperating, Duncan has withdrawn from his lavish lifestyle and now lives like a hermit ignoring his family and the terms of his inheritance trust. Worried that Duncan will lose his portion of the Grimwood estate, his personal assistant urges him to re-enter the real world by hosting a holiday gala at the manor to display his latest works. He agrees on the condition that nobody disturbs him while he works to finish his last few pieces. Snowed in for the weekend with his unexpected guest, Duncan is forced out of his cave. Will the beautiful decorator he's stuck with help him find a new respect for life before he loses everything? The topic of love languages seemed to just pop up out of nowhere while I was writing this story. But I liked how, as they discussed what each one thought their language was, it gave the other a deeper understanding of how to show their feelings. Sometimes actions are louder than words. You know? So, this is why I loved Chapman's book so much. Knowing how to speak love to someone by how we treat them, I believe, speaks in a deeper way than just the usual, I love you. I think you're neat. It's putting actions to words. And it works with all types of relationships, not only in marriage relationships. Thanks for stopping in. If you've followed the whole countdown, I hope you enjoyed what each author offered on their day.
We will leave this countdown page up until the end of the month. Not all the prizes will still be available, but if you wish to go back and visit days that you missed, you'll have until the end of February to do so. Today, I'll be giving away one digital copy of Gary Chapman's book, The Five Love Languages. I will also pick three people from those who leave a comment to win a free copy of My Beastly Billionaire. If you've already read Chapman's book and are not interested in winning that book, let me know in your comment and I'll add you only to the drawing for Beastly Billionaire. So, share your love language if you feel comfortable doing that. Or tell me in the comments if you enjoyed this special Valentines event. I wanted to do something different that would be more than just offering books. I wanted to offer something that might bless our readers. I do hope you were blessed. Thanks, Jackie C.

It's a great book to read for married couples. I love that what he teaches on can extend into any relationship we are dealing with: our children, friends, family, and spouses.

I read Chapman's book years ago. I got it when I realized how truly different our 2 oldest boys were. I wanted to make sure I was showing them love in a way that they could each get the most out of. But that was 20 years ago. I never had an opportunity to take the test though. Back when I read the book it was just the book that I borrowed from the library. So that test was kind of neat!
